Meet some of the women growing their businesses with solar freezers!
Meet Brenda!
Brenda has been running a business selling food and other goods for over seven years.
With limited access to electricity in her community, Brenda once relied on a gas-powered generator that could only run for a few hours each day. Determined to grow her business, she invested in solar-powered refrigeration and today, she owns four solar freezers. This has allowed her to expand her product offerings, meet higher customer demand, and steadily increase her income.
Meet Orfilia!
Orfilia lives in a community in Cortés, Honduras. She is a dedicated and entrepreneurial woman who has run her small home supplies shop (pulpería) for over 35 years.
Through access to loans, Orfilia invested in solar refrigeration to improve her business. What started with one freezer has grown, today she owns three solar freezers. This has allowed her to better serve her customers, increase her sales, and meet the growing demand for refrigerated products.
Meet Alma!
Alma lives in a community in Yoro, Honduras. She is a driven entrepreneur who started her small store over 15 years ago, selling food and everyday essentials.
To grow her business, she expanded into products that require refrigeration, such as milk, meat, drinks, and ice. Through loans from Soluz Honduras and Kiva, she was able to invest in three solar freezer systems, allowing her to better serve her customers while reducing the cost of buying ice, making a meaningful difference in her business growth.
